Shiv Jyoti Convent Senior Secondary School is a distinctive initiative of the Shiv Jyoti Educational Group, founded in 1982, dedicated to fostering a nurturing and enriching environment. Children are inspired to cultivate their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual potential here.
The School Library
The school has a well-equipped, air-conditioned, and computerized library with a collection of over 8,000 books, a number that continues to grow. The primary objective of the Library and Resource Centre is to support the curriculum at Shiv Jyoti Convent School. It plays a crucial role in enhancing classroom learning by providing a carefully curated selection of resources for both students and teachers.
The library houses an extensive range of textbooks and reference materials covering diverse subjects. Additionally, it subscribes to 25 periodicals. To make learning an engaging experience, the library offers a wide selection of books and magazines on general topics, along with dedicated sections for travel, sports, animal care, short stories, adventure, drama, poetry, astrology, child psychology, parenting, and more.
New books are systematically displayed and periodically reviewed. Each book in the library is barcoded and classified, enabling students and teachers to search for books online using keywords or author names. The library operates with advanced Library Management software, and books are categorized based on the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. A dedicated research space with high-speed internet access is available for both students and teachers, providing access to a vast array of e-resources.
To foster a love for reading, the school has introduced a special Reading Awards program for both junior and senior students. Additionally, annual book fairs are organized on the school premises to encourage lifelong reading habits. These fairs not only promote literacy but also offer students the opportunity to explore a diverse collection of books—from fiction and poetry to non-fiction, puzzles, and anthologies.
The school’s book fairs have consistently received an enthusiastic response from both students and teachers, reinforcing the importance of reading in academic and personal growth.
